About Peter
Hey, Pete here. I love working with designers. Since 2002 I’ve been helping them with year-round, hands on cash flow analysis and tax planning.
When I’m not working, I love running (I ran both the Chicago and Boston marathons) and going to the beach in my home state of Rhode Island. Little known fact- I’m also on a mission to visit every ballpark in America- the current count is 23!
It’s a privilege to know such amazing designers. I learn something new every day and am excited to serve clients in this industry.
Why Designers?
To answer that, I first need to tell you a little bit about myself.
Before I struck out on my own, I worked for an accountant who had a handful of design firm clients. I quickly became their go-to guy, fixing problems and helping them grow. Throughout the year, more and more work came my way, and I couldn’t getenough. I found the more traditional accounting tasks, such as filing returns, boring in comparison to my new found duties. I wanted more.
I quickly understood that designers needed valuable accounting advice all year long, and not just a tax return filed at the end of it. That’s what prompted me to leave and launch The Designer CPA – and when I did, most of those clients came with me!
What I love about working with designers:
- I’m envious of your creativity! Accountants by nature aren’t viewed as the creative types, so it’s nice to be around that and share in the glow of a great idea.
- I love that many of you are completely honest with yourselves. You know when you need help, and that makes it so much easier to step in and point you in the right direction.

“I have interviewed several CPAs and have admired and valued each one, but – let’s be serious – the business side of interior design is not for the meek of heart. Knowing that Peter genuinely loves working with the interior designer’s business model put him right at the top of my list.”
